How a 3D Hologram Soldier Boosted Military Recruitment at IDEB 2026

Introduction
IDEB Defence & Security 2026 took place at Incheba Expo Bratislava from May 12 to 14, 2026 and is one of the largest defense and security trade fairs in Central Europe. In this highly competitive environment, the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic wanted to show that the Slovak Armed Forces are not only about hardware and tactics but also about modern, innovative communication. Their human resources section needed to stand out among tanks, aircraft and cutting edge command systems and at the same time offer future recruits clear and honest answers about life in the military.
To achieve this, the Ministry partnered with norriv, a Slovak pioneer in holographic technology and one of only a few companies in the world that design and manufacture their own hologram box. Together they created Rotmajster Alex Novák, an AI holographic assistant presented as a life size 3D hologram soldier in full Slovak military uniform. Alex welcomed visitors, answered detailed questions about pay, career paths, studies and training and became a viral star of the event on social media, especially through an Instagram Reel that captured interactions with him.
Client Background and Challenge
The client was the human resources section of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic. Their mission at IDEB 2026 was to position the Slovak Armed Forces as an attractive employer for a new generation of recruits who grew up with smartphones, streaming and social media and who expect instant access to information as well as a highly visual digital experience. They needed to speak convincingly to high school and university students, young professionals considering a career change and parents looking for a stable and meaningful path for their children.
In a crowded exhibition hall filled with vehicles, drones, simulators and live demonstrations, traditional recruitment methods such as brochures, roll up banners and one to one conversations were no longer enough. Recruiters faced the same questions again and again about salaries, benefits, requirements, the application process and what basic training really looks like. In the noise of a large trade fair, it was difficult to maintain consistent, clear communication.

At the same time, the HR team wanted to show that the army is ready for the future and can compete with technology driven employers. They needed a solution that would combine modern holographic technology, 3D visualization and interactive holograms into a single experience. It had to grab attention like the most advanced digital signage solutions, but still provide reliable and precise information that reflects real conditions in the Slovak Armed Forces.
Solution: Hologram Box and AI Holographic Soldier
The Ministry chose norriv because the company offers an end to end holographic solution that connects hardware, software and artificial intelligence in a single ecosystem. The core of the installation was the norriv Hologram Box, a large format 3D hologram display that creates a realistic holographic projection of a person inside a physical box without any special glasses or headsets. This hologram box is designed for high traffic environments such as trade fairs, showrooms and conferences, which made it ideal for IDEB.
On top of the hardware norriv deployed its AI Holographic Assistant, a conversational AI avatar that can handle natural language questions in over one hundred languages. For the Ministry, the team designed a specific persona called Rotmajster Alex Novák. Alex was given a clear rank, a unit assignment in the personnel management section of the Slovak Armed Forces and a communication style that combined discipline, credibility and a friendly tone. His visual appearance and uniform were aligned with official regulations so that visitors immediately recognized him as a professional soldier.
Content wise, Alex was trained on a curated knowledge base prepared in cooperation with the human resources department. This knowledge base included frequently asked questions about salaries for different ranks, career paths in combat and support roles, study programs and scholarships, the application process, medical requirements, basic training phases and opportunities for deployment or international missions. The AI holographic assistant for business was configured to use clear, honest language and to encourage follow up conversations with human recruiters standing nearby.

The interactive flow was simple and intuitive. Visitors approached the hologram box, were greeted by Alex and were invited to ask any question they had about joining the army. They spoke naturally and Alex answered in Slovak or English depending on the visitor. For foreign delegations and guests, Alex demonstrated how holographic technology can act as an augmented reality alternative for multilingual communication at defence events. The entire experience was designed as a live example of innovative visual communication and interactive customer engagement, with the hologram marketing itself becoming a talking point across the exhibition.
Implementation at IDEB Defence & Security 2026
The installation was placed directly in the Ministry of Defence booth, inside the human resources section. This location ensured that anyone interested in a career in the armed forces naturally passed by the hologram box. The physical design of the stand was built around the idea that the holographic projection was the first touchpoint, followed by deeper conversations at nearby tables. In practice, this created a smooth recruitment funnel where the AI holographic assistant handled the initial curiosity and basic questions, while human staff focused on individual counselling.
During the fair the Hologram Box operated almost continuously. Alex handled questions about pay scales, working hours, housing and social benefits, the difference between professional soldiers and reservists, the process of applying from high school or university and what to expect from physical and psychological tests. Because the AI avatar always answered with the same up to date information, the Ministry had a consistent message, even in a very busy environment.

From a technical perspective, the project combined real time speech recognition, robust text to speech with a voice adapted to a trustworthy soldier character and a 3D hologram display optimized for bright exhibition lighting. The solution showed how holographic projection technology in Slovakia can be integrated into defence and security workflows. It also demonstrated that holographic technology for retail, events and healthcare can be adapted to a highly regulated environment such as the military.

To amplify the impact, the team encouraged visitors to record their interaction with Alex. Many of them posted videos and photos to Instagram and other platforms. One particular Instagram Reel, capturing spontaneous conversations with the hologram soldier and the reactions of visitors, gained strong traction and helped turn the installation into a viral example of interactive holographic marketing solutions beyond the exhibition halls.
Results and Business Impact
The first clear result was a dramatic increase in attention to the Ministry of Defence booth compared to traditional setups. The 3D hologram displays acted as a magnet for visitors who might otherwise have only walked past. Once they stopped and started talking to Alex, they tended to stay longer, ask follow up questions and then move naturally toward the HR officers for deeper discussion. This translated into a higher number of meaningful recruitment conversations within the same time frame.
HR staff reported that the AI holographic assistant significantly reduced the load of repetitive questions. Instead of repeatedly explaining the same basics about salaries or training, they could build on what Alex had already covered and talk about more personal topics such as long term career plans or specific roles. One HR representative summed it up by saying, “Alex took care of the first five minutes of every conversation for us, so we could focus on what really matters, which is understanding the individual in front of us.”
From a branding perspective, the installation positioned the Slovak Armed Forces as a modern employer that is not afraid of cutting edge immersive technology and 3D visualization. Visitors associated the army not only with heavy equipment, but also with AI driven innovation. A senior representative from the Ministry commented, “For young people it matters that we speak their language. Using a holographic soldier powered by AI showed that we are serious about the future and about investing in people and technology at the same time.”

The social media effect extended the reach of the project far beyond the three days of the fair. User generated content from the stand, including the viral Instagram Reel, acted as organic holographic advertising for both the army and norriv. Without paid media, the installation created a steady stream of authentic content that was shared across networks, proving the value of hologram marketing and next generation marketing tools in the defence sector.
Long Term Value and Future Opportunities
Because the project was built on norriv’s modular platform, the Ministry can reuse Rotmajster Alex Novák in other contexts. The same holographic avatar can appear at regional recruitment days, open door events, career fairs at universities or even in permanent recruitment centres as part of a network of 3D hologram displays for events. The knowledge base can be updated as pay tables or regulations change and additional scenarios can be added for topics such as cyber defence, medical careers or engineering tracks.
The IDEB deployment also opened the door for other defence and public sector organizations to explore AI holographic assistant for business scenarios. For example, similar holographic projection systems could be used to guide visitors at military museums, to support training simulations or to provide multilingual information at international exercises. In each of these cases, interactive holograms would act as an innovative visual communication channel and as an augmented reality alternative that does not require users to wear any devices.
For norriv, the project strengthened its position as a European leader in holographic technology that can handle demanding use cases far beyond retail and entertainment. The company demonstrated that the same core components used in digital signage solutions, holographic presentations and interactive customer engagement in finance or healthcare can be adapted to defence and security. This cross sector credibility is a key advantage when clients are looking for partners who can deliver reliable, scalable holographic projection technology in Slovakia and across the European Union.

Conclusion and Call to Action
The installation of the Hologram Box with the AI holographic soldier Rotmajster Alex Novák at IDEB Defence & Security 2026 showed how a single piece of immersive technology can transform a traditional recruitment booth into a live, interactive experience. By combining 3D hologram displays, an AI holographic assistant and carefully prepared content, the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic created a new standard for how armed forces can communicate with future recruits. The project proved that holographic technology and interactive holographic marketing solutions are not just futuristic displays, but practical tools that deliver real business value in the form of stronger engagement, more efficient use of staff and a more attractive employer brand.
